Tip 1

Don’t rely on job advertisements to spotlight opportunities for you. The best jobs are rarely advertised. Decide what you want to do, and what kind of employer you want to work for. Then research, network, and eventually target your way to success.

Tip 2

Produce a great CV (resumé), tailored to the job you want, focusing on achievements. Never cover more than 2 pages.

Tip 3

Write a short letter to send with the CV; make the letter relevant to the position you want.

Tip 4

If you get an interview, you’re doing really well! Make it count; think about your strengths, be prepared to be confident but not boastful when they ask ”So, why should we give this job to you?” And pick a weakness to reveal if asked – they won’t believe you don’t have any!

Tip 5

The very best advice for interviews is “be yourself”. A job may be attractive-looking, but you need to be sure that you will fit into their culture. So don’t pretend to be anything but what you are.
